LONE STAR REGION CONVENTION GUIDE

INTRODUCTION
This Guide has been prepared to provide guidance to those members contemplating, or planning, a Lone Star Region Annual Convention. It is not a "spoon-feed" set of instructions on how to do it, but rather a guide to what must be done and how to go about getting it done. The Guide has been prepared by the Lone Star Region Chair of four successful Region Conventions, plus one NMRA National Convention.
As always, the Region Convention Chair stands ready to answer any questions that may arise during the contemplation, planning, or conduct phases of a Region Convention. If anything in the Guide is not adequately clear, if a new situation crops up, or for any other reason, the convention planner or Chair should feel free to contact the Region Convention Chair. It is the aim of the Region Convention Chair to have successful LSR Conventions, and the Chair stands ready to answer any and all questions that may arise, no matter how seemingly inconsequential they may be. The Marker Lamp Call Board lists the name, address, phone number, and e-mail address of the Lone Star Region Convention Chair.
One very important point. Any person contemplating hosting a Lone Star Region Convention will be well-advised to establish, and maintain, contact with the local Convention and Visitors Bureau (C&VB). The contact should be established at the time of initial consideration for hosting a Convention, and should be maintained almost up to the time of the actual Convention. The C&VB can assist in evaluating the various venues, selection of a candidate venue, evaluation of the conditions established by the candidate venue, and many other aspects. That is their business, and advantage should be taken of the extensive knowledge that is available. To put it another way, the C&VB is the LSR Convention planners best friend.
Following this Introduction is a listing of the Lone Star Region Conventions from the first, in 1951, to the latest.
